    Universal's "Dracula" was released in early 1931, catapulting its star, Bela Lugosi, into immediate fame for his portrayal of the Transylvanian Count onscreen.
    The King of all vampires is vividly captured here in what is surely the finest portrait of the legendary Lugosi as Dracula ever produced. Indeed, it’s a masterful work, sculpted by Tony McVey, whose credits include the design of many otherworldly creatures for Lucas’ "Star Wars” films. Every subtle nuance of Lugosi's Dracula is meticulously rendered in fine detail, with McVey delivering a piece that almost breathes with unnatural life.
    Beyond the striking portrait, the bust is beautifully designed, with the Count's slick garments trailing down in fluid motion to a pair of gargoyles, creating a dynamic display of angles and gothic ornamentation. Officially licensed by Lugosi Enterprises, the Count Dracula tribute bust was released by ArtAttack in 1999 as a limited edition of 300, which sold out quicker than a vampire vanishes. It's flawlessly molded in heavy-weight gray vinyl as one piece, a rock-solid, rigid sculpt that’s roughly 1/3 scale, standing 10" tall x 4 ½” wide on display.
    Like Bela himself, McVey's Dracula bust is now long gone, and not an easy catch today. If you love Lugosi, it doesn't get any better than this stunning tribute to the eternal King.
