    Description

This is the April 1951 issue of Field & Stream (“Special BOATING Number”). The magazine contains 160 pages and measures approximately 8.25 x 11.5 inches.
This issue is dedicated to fishing. Among the articles is “Fightin’ Fish” by baseball great Ted Williams (also an avid and exceptional fisherman).
In addition to a range of articles about outdoor sports, there are vintage ads for hunting, fishing and boating products, as well as household products.
Founded in 1895, Field & Stream has more than one million print subscribers, with a significant following online as well. Depending on the season and the availability of information, the magazine may offer advice on bass, birds, deer, trout, rifles and shotguns. The magazine also offers tricks, survival tips, miscellaneous facts and wild game recipes.
In addition to those departments, each issue contains long-form featured articles, for which it is renowned.
The magazine absorbed its chief competitor, Forest and Stream, in 1930. Henry Holt and Company purchased the magazine in 1951. Holt eventually ended up being owned by CBS, which sold its magazines in a leveraged buyout, led by division head Peter Diamandis, to the Times-Mirror Company, which in turn sold their magazines to Time Inc. in 2001.
