Description
New Genuine HP Fuser RM2-6460 / RM2-6418 for duplex models of the Laserjet M452 M454 M477 M479This is a new genuine HP fuser, NOT refurbished or aftermarket. This fuser is for the duplex models of the HP M452 M454 M477 M479. Duplex means the printer can print on both sides of the page. Duplex printer models will have a 'd' in the suffix, for example M452dn M452dw M377dw M477fdn M477fdw M454dn M454dw M479fdn M479fdw. Simplex printers, printers that won't print on both sides, use a different fuser (RM2-6431 / RM2-1833). The duplex fuser can be converted to work in a simplex printer with the removal of a few parts from the fuser, but we do not provide support on doing that.
We only recommend new genuine HP fusers at this time for this series of printers. This fuser has been very problematic in that the fuser's pressure roller doesn't last as long as one would expect. From our experience, these HP fusers last approximately 25,000 to 35,000 pages, and a lot less if you print a lot of envelopes or other media that digs into the pressure roller. The pressure roller is unique enough that every aftermaket pressure roller we have tested has failed our tests, and the OEM roller isn't available, and not of the best quality to being with, otherwise it would last longer. So your best option is to buy a new genuine HP fuser which should last another 25,000 to 35,000 pages. If anyone knows of a factory that makes a good quality pressure roller for this fuser, then contact us, because we'd like to test it! Then maybe we can fix these fusers with a longer lasting roller, which would cost a lot less than purchasing a new fuser.
PrinterTechs is a group of highly skilled and friendly printer technicians located in Middleton, Wisconsin. What makes us unique in our industry is our obsession with quality. I know, EVERYONE claims to have great quality, but in my years of observing this industry, very few companies really take quality seriously. As a technician it’s frustrating to see the proliferation of cheap, low quality parts and toner flooding the market. I’ve had customers tell me their purchasing departments thought they were saving money by buying the cheapest toner and parts they could find, when in fact they were LOSING money because they had to replace them almost twice as often! In the long run, quality toner and parts will save you more time and money through longer product lives and fewer service calls.
