Pflueger Medalist Fly Reel Model 1595 w box Circa 1958 LHW

The hard to find vintage left hand only version of this classic reel.
The front plate on this reel has been refinished as pictured. The rest of the reel is in excellent + condition .
The box is for a Model 1495 not a Model 1595  but is correct for the age of the reel and is also Excellent +.

Outside Diameter; Spool Diameter 3"; 1" Wide; 6.3 ounces; Good for 5 to 7 weight lines.
By using the box insert numbers and the dates stamped on the bottom of the boxes I am certain that the Model 1595 Pflueger Medalist Fly Reel was produced from 1951( 68B14, 3/51) to 1958 (68B19, 11/58). Other sources on the internet claim that this model was produced for only one year..
The biggest and most important difference between the Model 1495 and Model 1595 of the era is the drag and ratchet plate. The left hand version of this hardened steel ,
indestructible, ratchet plate replaced the right hand version . The unique left hand version is only good for left hand use, it cannot be flipped over as the black plastic plate which was introduced in 1962. The ratchet plate has 4 indents on the top and 16 on the bottom. I recently sold a vintage left hand ratchet plate (part number 3933) for 0.
It is hard to find a Model 1595 that is in near mint condition. Most people who purchase these reels are very knowledgeable and buy them for use and use them a lot. Personally I have used this  Model almost exclusively for the past 15 years . I used to fish 100 days a year or more.
