Vintage Julius Vom Hofe Fly Fishing Reel. Size 3 1/2. Needs Work.
Up for sale is a vintage Julius Vom Hofe fly reel. The reel foot is marked with a 3 1/2 and this reel has a diameter of 2.30". Although this reel is complete, it does not work properly. The spool has bearing play and it feels somewhat sloppy when reeling. Also, the clicker does not engage or work. It looks like a brass shim was added under the handle at some point in time to reduce the play (you might actually be able to add one to the backside of the spool to help get the spool spinning properly). I have not taking this reel apart, so I am not sure what the clicker is looking like. As you can see from the photos, the finish has wear and a coat of patina over it. All-in-all, despite the fact that this reel isn't working properly, and the finish has wear, it is still a somewhat uncommon JVH reel, that will look great in any collection. in the box. All reels and lures are shipped in sturdy boxes. Rods are shipped in USPS triangular shaped tubes, regular cardboard tubes, or PVC pipe.
I will not use a rod tube or box that feels weak.
• International shipping is done through the Global Shipping Program.
