Dennis Quaid tells Trump rally that voters must choose between ‘TikTok and the Constitution’

Hollywood actor latest celebrity to back Republican as he compares him to Ronald Reagan

Dennis Quaid has said Americans must choose between TikTok and the Constitution and vote for Donald Trump, as he rallied for the former president in California.
The actor, known for his roles in The Parent Trap and The Right Stuff, became the latest Hollywood A-lister to throw their weight behind Trump, rather than Kamala Harris.
Speaking at a rally in Coachella, he said it was “time to pick a side” and compared the former president to his Republican predecessor Ronald Reagan.
“Are we going to be a nation that stands for the Constitution? Or for TikTok?” he said.
“Are we going to be a nation of law and order? Or wide open borders? Which is it? Because it’s time to pick a side.”
Quaid originally endorsed Trump in May, telling Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show: “People call him an a–hole, but he’s my a–hole.”
The actor, who recently played Reagan in a biopic, suggested the 1980 election that brought him to power was comparable to the 2024 race because of global threats against the US and high consumer inflation.
“It’s amazing how the issues of the 1980 election are very similar to what they are today,” he said.
“We were a nation in decline. That’s what they told us. Ronald Reagan came along and said, no, we’re not a nation in decline … the same with Trump, with President Trump.”
“I’m gonna ask you a question that Reagan asked America back then, and I think it’s the question that got him elected. Are you better off than you were four years ago?” he added.
Quaid is the latest celebrity endorsement for the Trump campaign, which has trailed Ms Harris in terms of A-list backing.
Hulk Hogan, the pro-wrestler, and musicians Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood, appeared on stage at the Republican National Convention earlier this year.
Ms Harris has received the backing of the Gen Z favourites Taylor Swift and Charli XCX, along with Democrat stalwarts including Mark Hamill and Bryan Cranston.
On Sunday, Quaid praised Trump’s foreign policy approach, which differs significantly to Reagan’s.
He said Trump had achieved “peace in the Middle East” and was negotiating a US withdrawal from Afghanistan with “honour and order”, while Iran was “bankrupt” and unable to finance terrorist groups.
